Based upon our work from the previous exercise and formula [3.181], calculate

  • g[0] = –23,
  • g[1] = 119.

By [3.183] and [3.184]

  • E(Y) = g[0] = –23,
  • E(Y2) = g[1] + g[0]E(Y) = 648.

Applying the result of Exercise 3.15, the standard deviation of Y is
